Run Payroll with
Web Timesheets
B2B, SaaS, Mob App, Web App
In 22-23', as the lead designer, I redesigned and helped ship Timesheets, Assignar's Payroll feature across mobile and web.

The redesign:
1. Enabled workers on site to accurately record their time across their day in the mobile app.
2. Enabled Payroll to efficiently manage, review and approve real time timesheet data in our web app.

For the purpose of this case study, I'll be taking you through Web Timesheets only.

Here are some quick numbers on impact:
“We can prove that we have been able to save, just in the timesheet reporting alone, over $30,000 a year."
OE Construction
“With regard to Payroll, for us and for myself doing the wages, it has gone from a 3-day process in chasing things, getting emails and all the data entry to now 1 hour and 20 minutes"
RCC Civil
"Our Payroll process used to take 4-5 hours, now we can process it within an hour"
Blacktown Waste Services
"I'm saving a full day on Payroll."

Payroll management is so important in any business.

Companies have a responsibility to make sure that their workers are correctly paid and on time, as it improves employee satisfaction, reduces risk of government penalties and is critical to a company's operations and reputation.
In construction, when it comes to Payroll, paper and spreadsheets is still our biggest competitor. This can be costly and risky as it:
Leaves space for mistakes and human error
Requires more necessary, manual checks to make sure pay is correct.
Runs risk of delayed Payroll
Assignar's Web Timesheets is one of Assignar's core offerings in the product. However, there were a number of inefficient processes with the way it worked.
Lack of ability to review all the information at the same time. Users had to rely on horizontal scroll for 47 columns, which increases inefficiencies, especially for those who need to review 100+ Timesheets every week.
Payroll didn't have real-time visibility. This page only showed users submitted Timesheets. If a construction worker was in the middle of completing a Timesheet and forgot to submit, they would have to wait until next pay day.
Not user-friendly and required training to use the module.
☁️ How can we reimagine the Timesheets module in the web app, so that Payroll can save time and better monitor data when it comes to their employees pay?
Across 2022-2023, we released our reimagined Timesheet module in the Web App. Here are some numbers on its impact:
